HOSTEL
Svefi Vandrarhem is centrally located in Haparanda, right by Torget, approx. 10 minutes' walk from the bus station.
The hostel offers rooms with private bathroom with shower, all rooms have TV and access to sauna, laundry room, a fully equipped common kitchen and WiFi. Our rooms are in several buildings by the square.
IKEA, Finland, the Tornedalen Museum and the Aine Art Museum are all within a kilometer of the hostel.

- Bed linen and towels are included in the room price, but the guest makes his own bed.
- Breakfast is included in the room price on non-holiday weekdays; no breakfast during weekends. Breakfast is served in Restaurant Minerva on weekdays between 07:00 – 09:00. In addition to weekends, breakfast is not served at the following times: week 52–1 and week 27–31.
- There is a large place for free parking in the block beyond the hostel buildings (see "Contact and map", above). We also have a limited number of garage spaces that must be booked in advance.
- You can cancel free of charge up to 1 day before arrival.
- Please note that the rooms, reception and restaurant are in different buildings. You will receive information and a map when we send you the door code.

Important information
- Please note that the rooms, reception and restaurant are located in three separate buildings around the square:
— The reception can be found at the Sverigefinska Folkhögskolan. If you enter via the entrance towards the square, you will find the reception directly on the left.
— The rooms can be found in the yellow houses at Haparanda City Hall, across the square from the school. You will see in the check-in message which of the buildings your room is in.
— The restaurant can be found in the courtyard of the Sverigefinska Folkhögskolan. Here you can have breakfast (included in the room price on weekdays) and lunch.You will find a map in the box "Contact and map", below.
- The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch on weekdays.
Booking/cancellation
- Number of people, price, accommodation, and other products and services to be delivered by the hostel can be seen in the confirmation the guest receives after booking.
- 18-year-old age limit – For guests not accompanied by a guardian, the 18-year-old age limit is applied. The hostel reserves the right to cancel the booking on the spot if valid identification cannot be presented.
- Cancellation policy: free of charge up to 1 day before arrival.
Check-in and check-out
- Check-in weekdays from 15:00.
- Check-in at other times as agreed with the hostel.
- Check-out no later than 11:00.
- Late check-out may be possible, contact the reception no later than the day before. In case of late check-out without agreement with the hostel, 1 extra night will be charged.
Children and extra beds
- Free of charge! All children under the age of 5 stay free in their parents' bed.
- Free of charge! Baby cot on request.
- Max one cot in one room.
- An extra bed (in an armchair or footstool) can be booked in specific rooms that appear in the booking form, a fee is added when booking.
Pets
- Pets are accepted in our Budget rooms. Booked in connection with room booking. SEK 200/pet is added.
Accepted credit cards
- We accept most credit cards and payment via Swish. We do not accept cash.
- The hostel reserves the right to pre-authorize credit cards prior to arrival.
Liability in the event of damage
- The guest, or the person who stands as guarantor for the room, is responsible for damage to the premises as a result of negligence or unjustifiable behavior by the guest.
- We remind you that all premises at Svefi are non-smoking. In case of violation, we will demand compensation for extra cleaning of the room. This compensation is SEK 1 and will be charged to the final bill to the guest who is responsible for the room.
We guarantee:
- Secure booking. When you book with us, your data is protected by a secure connection.
- Your personal data is protected.
- No booking fees. You get the hostel's best price if you pay with your credit card when booking.
Internet
- Free of charge! Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel and is free.
Parking
- Free of charge! Free public parking is available approx. 50 m from the hostel (cannot be booked).
- We also have a limited number of garage spaces. These can be booked in advance.
Activities
- Summer: Golf course (within 3 km), boat trips to Sandskär, fishing.
- Winter: Snow castle, dog sledding, fishing.
